flatnumber prepares next year by itself, 30 days before the current year ends. If you want to start planning sooner — typically to draft the budget that the annual meeting will vote on — you can ask for it earlier.
Steps
- Open the association settings.
- Choose Create next financial year.
- Check the dates shown and confirm.
What happens next
- Next year exists, but it is inactive: new expenses and payments still go into the current year.
- All of next year's budget categories are created at zero, ready for you to fill in.
- An annual general meeting for the new year is created for you. It is a placeholder: open it and set the real date, place and agenda before you invite anyone.
- Administrators who follow that alert receive an email saying the new year has been created.
Good to know
This does not close the current year. The start of the new year is always "start of the current year plus one year". Creating it early changes when the document exists, not when the year begins.
There is nothing to undo. If you create next year early and then do nothing with it, it simply becomes active on the anniversary, exactly as it would have anyway.
You can only do this once per year. If next year already exists, flatnumber will not create a duplicate.

Can I record expenses in next year before it starts?
No. Entries always go into the active year.
